Changed transmission fluid but not the filter..??
I had my GS300 taken and done oil change and transmission fluid change but mechanic won't do the TRANSMISSION FILTER change. I asked him as to why and he said because too many problems came out of it, resulting from changing the TRANSMISSION FILTER because of the debris gets lose and it could ruin the transmission. So to make the story short, the mechanic only changed the trainy fluid but not the filter. I drove off. I don't feel right about this, any comments are welcome.

little over 80k. I was told that lots of problems are caused by the transmission filter change and he basically recommended me to change just the fluid. (I'll take have the transmission and filter changed next time(around 30k))

Here's the reason why they say it will cause problems. ATF has detergents in it to keep the transmission clean. If the trans has never been serviced, then the new fluid will dislodge that old gunk in the trans. If the trans is regularly serviced, then changing the fluid will cause no problems. If you do have a neglected transmission, the procedure is to change the ATF with the old filter still in there. Drive around for a few days, bring it back to the shop and change the fluid and filter. That way all the old crap can dislodge into the old filter.
Again, they were just lazy
