I'm trying to get someones insight and plan the repair.

I have a oil leak that looks to be coming from the front bearing cap, under the valve covers.
So I need to pull the valve covers and the bearing cap.
By pulling the cap I assume I compromise the cam seals.

Can the cam seals be replaced with out removing the cams?

I love responding to my own post...

After cleaning the residual oil from the motor, it may not be as bad as I thought.
The leak seems to be just a minor seep, something I can take care of with a good wipe down once a week or so.
It has been a year since I detailed the motor and this past weekend I noticed oil on the engine undercover and traced it to the front valve cover area.

Now, I believe I can wait and do valve cover gaskets, cam seals and reseal the end plugs and bearing caps when I do the timing belt job, towards the end of this year.

I still have a question, Can the cam seals be replaced with out removing the cams?
I think I know the answer but I don't like it...

patience sir...... i have no answer to your ? but i have some new in the bag cam seals for a gs430 if they will work for you i'll sell them cheaply. i bought them n decided since mine werent leaking to not install them and since we essentially share the same motor i think they will work for you but i dunno. you'll have to check on that. pm if u want them or ne ?

My neighbor Lars with his fancy 430 might need them before me. He is over due on his timing belt and wants to do the cam seals (I can't wait).
