Default LED List

Guys, I know this has been covered and I've searched but have found some conflicting info.(ex. #74 fits footwell---No it doesn't) regarding the entire list for the LED conversion so can someone break it down and the vendor so I (we all) can have this?? If someone has done this you can PM me if you all are pissed this is being brought up again.

hey ill,

regarding the LED's on the footwell. i personally chose to replace the existing socket with the following universal light socket that i purchased from a local autozone:

this allowed me to use the much brighter 194 wedge bulb.

Have you checked in the lighting forum? There's a couple threads there that are pretty comprehensive; this one will probably end up being moved there as well.

Here's a quick run-down on what I put in. I got all mine from v-led.com, there's cheaper out there that will probably do the same job, but the lights look great and customer service was excellent. The dome light bulb had a cluster that wasn't working and after I tested it they shipped a replacement the next day, no hassles or waiting to return the defective one; it was more than I'd expected.

4 #74 SMT's, 2 in footwells, glovebox, ignition ring- I had to use a little hot glue to get these to stay in properly and the bulb was almost too long for the ignition ring, but everythings been working fine.

1 SMT 6 LED cluster, 3175 in the dome light

2 BA9 SMT's in the front map lights; color is a shade different than the dome light and another design may work a little better in the GS's setup but they put out quite a bit of light as is.

You'll need 4 pairs of 194's to do the interior, more if you want to do license plate or wedge bulbs which are both 194's as well.
I used the cheap $2 a pair inverted cone LED's in the doors and trunk, they are not very bright and a little blue-er than the rest but they're ok for me as accents, I don't use the door lights to see things and I'm not trying to read in the trunk.

I used SMT 194's for the rear map lights and these are quite bright but spendier, worth it for the map lights IMO.

I haven't done the vanity mirrors yet, it seems those are harder to find, they didn't have that size at v-led and I haven't looked around yet.

Unless I forgot something, that pretty much sums it up.

d3f, you just gave away a trick not many people are aware of . its a lot easier then finding "special" bulbs.

Thanks guys and d3f the harness is cool but again you say in your list for foots to use #74's but then in your harness quote you say it's good for the 194's??? Little confused. I know there's a footwell led for the orig. setup does anyone know?? (sylvania website is a joke) Thx for the domelight # and I think you all infered the LP lights would be 194's?Thanks again

The sockets in the footwells are for 74's, the harness that was posted would plug into the 74 socket and a 194 bulb would plug into the harness allowing you to use a larger brighter 194 bulb in the footwell.

The license plate lights are 194's, I haven't switched mine yet but they sit at an angle so look for something that has some radial-firing LED's or a very wide dispersion pattern. I tested one of the SMT 194's that only lights out of the end in mine and it worked ok but actual light on the plate was less than ideal.

Ummm ...

*WARNING/DISCLAIMER*

For you that haven't done any type of DIY such as this, don't do it unless done by a professional which will cost you about $300. If not done correctly it can cause interior cabin fire and blown fuses. In addition to improper installation, it can cause poor gas mileage, uneven wear and tear on your tires, and cause your gas door lid to pop open at various times

How's that for scare tactic Panda?
