I haven't seen a consolidated tire thread so here goes....
It's time to start looking for a replacement set of tires and I was wondering what everyone's been running or if they have already replaced the stock set with something they like.

So feel free to chime in with the following:

• Make and Model
• How many miles so far
• Driving Style
• Pro's
• Con's

I'll go first
Make/Model: Dunlop SP Sport 5100 (Stock)
Miles: +59k miles
Style: Commuter/Spirited weekend driving
Pro's: Decent Tread Life and Mileage (25mpg avg overall)
Con's: Road Noise and poor wet traction

I've been looking at everything under the sun for a replacement; Pirelli, Hankook, Goodyear, Continental, and Michelin. But haven't been able to narrow it down yet. Any recommendations?

Wow cant imagine using that stock dunlops for that many miles without going insane. I have the same stock tires and it is loud at 5000 miles. I can't imagine how loud it would be at 65k miles. I plan on replacing these Dunlops for Michelins when I hit 15k miles.

.... I do a lot of commuting, so the miles add up fast. I've been looking at some Pirelli's, but not quite sure yet.

That's good cause it means if he can run 50K+ miles on them, at 36K when my lease is up they'll still look good. I don't want to put new tires on then return the car.

I just replaced my OEM tires at 16k miles because my traction control light was coming on constantly. I got Michelin Pilot Super Sports and couldn't be happier. The car has never had this much grip, which finally leaves me understanding why owners keep asking for more torque. I really don't think I felt the true handling potential of the F Sport until I got these tires. Plus, they ride way smoother than the OEM tires. I find myself driving in Sport + much more often because I don't get beaten up on rough roads. Big thumbs up for these.

BTW, there is a thread on new tires for the GS if you do a search. Quite a few owners have gone with Michelins.

Which Pirellis? I was looking at the P7 Cintaurato Plus, they have great reviews..

I have the Michelins and at 25k they're at about 4/32nds. I'll wind up replacing them this fall. Still smooth and quiet.

Yup, those are the ones I'm looking at. They're getting really good reviews. Trying to find someone who has them already and see what they think.

My only concern about tires like that are the relatively low mileage reported in the TireRack surveys. Tires typically have really stellar reviews when they are new, but as people report in over time and more surveys come in, once the reviews get up past 1M miles reported, etc they tend to regress back to the mean.

So the question is, does one go with a tire thats tried and true and has good, but not great reviews (like the Michelin Primacy MXM4 like I have OEM on mine), or does one take a chance on a newer tire that has great reviews but may be untested over the long term?

The Pirellis are a good bit cheaper than the Michelins if you get the OEM version of the Michelins....the OEM Michelin is $50 a tire more than the replacement Michelin for the same model tire. But, the replacement Michelin is very close in price to the Pirellis. There may be no real difference between the OEM Michelins and the replacement Michelins.

I've never had Pirellis, a friend of mine has them on her new X5 and they're very quiet and smooth riding.

I have the michelin primacy MXM4 and I think they are by far the best tires out there for this sedan. I have tried continental contiprocontact and bridgestone serenity plus on this 2013 GS F-sport but the Michelins win hands down.
