Hot news from Lexus Techs: Apple will update their software of IOS 7 March or April 2014 so that Iphone users can respond to texts that we receive via our Lexus System through the canned messages, etc. The pressure from this forum and other auto manufacturers has done this update. Lexus is still negotiating with Apple to allow our 2013 autos to have Siri Eyes Off since we have the same computers as the 2014. We would need another updated software and firmware. It is looking good for this upgrade. No timetable on this issue but I hear it is also two to three months.No decision on costs for this upgrade. Do not know if the photos in our contact list on our phones will show like the Samsung Galaxy 4 on our Lexus Screen. Time will tell. Lexus Techs said to keep up the calls to Lexus Corporation and Apple Corporation. They are reading and hearing us.

- I've been using the 7.1 beta releases and reply doesn't work. Apple's official doc's say it won't work. Your Lexus Tech is talking out his/her **** :-)

- Photos showing up is a Bluetooth thing, Apple doesn't support it.

the pictures show up fine on S4...

i don't see what's so good about siri... google now has exceeded siri in so many different ways... Even the text to speech engine sounds very good.

That's for "iOS in the Car" or whatever they end up calling it. Separate from modifications to their Bluetooth protocols.

I believe car display is referring to those vehicles with Siri Eyes Free.

But this is great news none the less. I contacted Lexus corp about this issue and explained how I am disinclined to buy another Lexus if I'm made obsolete so quickly on a new model vehicle. Very happy they are listening and hopefully we can get the eyes free retrofit quickly and easily.

You can also tell them you wish to open a case and get ahold of a case manager. I did that and it seemed to have more resonance with them.

The word from dealership is, lexus has newer firmware and is installing it in newer cars but had not made it available to dealers to be installed for existing customers.

I have a 2014 ES 300h and an iPhone 5S running the latest 7.0 (not 7.1 beta) firmware. I'm having an issue where after I leave the vehicle, Eyes Free stays active on my iPhone. I can tell this because there's a purple bar at the top of the screen. The only way I have found to fix this is to power off/on my phone. Is anyone else having this problem?

I wish I saw this thread when I took delivery last weekend. Don't you think the tech specialist should have installed the update during delivery, even though it's a 2013 (brand new)? The SW on the system was last updated 6 months ago and shows last update was aborted. Is there a tech bulletin board somewhere for reference of the update patch?
