Help!!! Changing 94 GS300 Water pump
I need to change the water pump on my 94 GS300. I already have all the bolts out except for the stupid hidden one behind the Timing Belt pulley. Does anyone have any tips or know any tricks to move the pulley and get the last bolt out??? Also, is that why they sell both a 10-fastener and 11-fastener designed water pump?? Does the 10-fastener design not have the bolt that goes behind the pulley? Please get back to me ASAP guys because I am in the middle of the job right now....Thanks a million!!

Any way of knowing if it's a 10 or 11 bolt without actually standing there and counting? Mine needs to change also. has quite a bad leak going on.

Thanks alot Kaiser....my dad and I were freaking out because we got every bolt except could not figure out how to loosen the tensioner. I just bought a new 94 GS300 and got a great deal because it needed the water pump changed. Any other known problem areas/routine maintenance issues?? Thanks man

So let me get this straight.
All I have to do is loosen the belt tensioner to get the waterpump out?
I have a pretty big breaker bar. This job shouldn't require air tools right? There's no way I'm going to let my parents fork over $250 to some mechanic just to change a waterpump when this is what I'm training for.
1. It's only the serpentine belt that needs to come off, correct?
2. How do I set timing to TDC on the 2J?(Do I really need to?) (Looking at a timing belt replacement manual, I just turn the crank bolt clockwise.)

Replacing belt tensioner a PAIN!!!!!!
Hi,
I was hoping that someone could help me out with this. I replaced the water pump on my car, I took the timing belt tensioner OFF in order to get to the last bolt on the water pump. I went to put it back on and now its hard to get it back. The belt wont slip back on the left side of the tensioner so this has created a major issue. I havent turned the cam gears or the crankshaft at the bottom, but I did slip the belt off of the cam gear on the passenger side. Is my timing off? and what do I need to do to get this tensioner back on? I have pretty much tried EVERYTHING so if any helpful advice please feel free
