There's got to be a short or bad ground
Just got my new alternator put in...80 amps i believe. THis should be enough to pull ALL of the car's accesories right?? The voltage stays at 13.9 14.0 when drivin. I turned the A/C, rear defroster, headlights on and the SAME $#%@ happened as with my old alternator.
I think there is a short somewhere in the system or a bad ground. THere is so many places to look but i have no idea where to start.
WEll, i have one lead, when my firewall in the back seat got taken out, (Huge bundle of wires on the right side of the car, the passanger side) I saw some wires got striped or maybe even cut when a hole got drilled for the power wires. I'm gonna give that a try

Perhaps thats a vague question. Is there a way to test if my headlights and or tailights are shorting out or have a bad ground???? THey both work but drag the voltage down when they are used/applied

What does the voltage drop to?
It would be suggested to focus on any electrical adds or modifications from the original wiring design.
Try removing the fuses to any additional amplifiers or changes installed, to determine if they are the cause of the excess electrical load.

Silverstars. I don't think the system has anything to do with anything because it doesn't drop the voltage when bumping. Only when the car is still with the foot on the brake.
This is the order of what i think is draggin the voltage down:
1st: Headlights and then brake lights drag the voltage down to 11.8. Still not as low as with my old alt but still.
2nd: Rear defroster
3rd: System

You would hear engine whine in the stereo with a bad ground. The rear defroster uses a lot of amperage if I remember correctly. I think it's like 30amps. Glad I'll never need it.
FYI my dash dims when the headlights are on and I hit the brakes. I have HID's.

I believe it...it seems like it takes a lot of amps
Theres no dimming with the stereo and no dim in the lights or dash if that helps the analysis...and when i hit the brakes, the headlights dim, same with rear defroster and A/C
