Swapping VVTI GTE into 1st gen. Need help
Okay guys, as the title says, I am currently working on my setup to put a 2jz-gte vvti engine in. It is already a singled motor...
Here is the deal, I am getting the motor as part of a parts/car swap, and I had no choice for VVTI or Non-vvti. Its a 2000 JDM Supra motor and I am also getting the front sump setup with it to swap the sumps out. Right now it was wired for a 90 MKIII Supra, but will have to change that.
I am not a "wiring" guy and need some advice. This is about to get complicated and I wish I knew someone with a swap like this that has already been completed so as I can ask them questions and pick their brain...
Also, about the intercooler. I have a 3-row knockoff and I pulled the front facia off and pulled the 5mph support off and I still don't see how its going to fit without some cutting which I REFUSE to do. I need some ideas for an intercooler.
Thanks for any and all info on what I covered, and extra comments you may have.

you have a lot bigger problems than the intercooler, and if you are stuck on that....
main issue is that the signals on the VVTI are digital, on the non VVTi they are analog. What engine harness do you have? At the very least I would get a new stock JDM Supra 2000 harness to start with.

i have seen this done in a SUPRA... so i wont say ur in big trouble as yet but you are gonna be broke as fok with this project... what made you get this motor was it the "V-TEC" part i think non VVT-i is a good motor as well... but good luck and keep us posted and everyone on here will help you as much as we can!

Thanks for the responses, BUT I will try to clear some stuff up.
1) I did not choose this motor because I thought it was cool, had v-tec, or even because I knew it had vvti. It is part of a swap and I had no choices except this. (not trying to be mean, but I woulda gone straight gte if I could)
2)I am always broke with my Supra (or old supra). So being broke is not abnormal. heh
Okay, now for some ideas and a question for NYARISTO. NYAristo, do you happen to know which supra this was, and or have a link for this supras info? The one that converted to vvti.
Some ideas I had.
1) Trade motor for non-vvti.
2) Buy a non vvti head and use it and a non vvti harness. (Would this work?)
3) Sell and stop modding (NEVER going to happen. heh)
Any comments or other ideas are welcome! Thanks
~Ryan

How much is the price difference between a VVTi and a non-VVTi motor nowadays?
I think I would also go for the non VVTi one. That's what I'm used to.
As for your bumper supports, you're going to have to hack it. I'll try to find some pic from some old set-up that we did.

Now im not an expert on anything BUT if it were me id get on supraforums and ask if anyone with an MA70 had a non vvti motor that is getting ready to do a swap and would want to trade for yours since its already wired up for their car, it would make things a lot easier for both of you. then you could just keep the single etc.... or you could just sell it and buy an aristo swap and have some change left over??
