Deal fell through, now revisiting F Sport or Not; CPO or New?
Hey folks, I'm hoping to join the GS ranks soon. Long story short. Deal on new FSport fell apart.
So two questions:
if you have an F, do you ever feel like the ride is too firm? I like the F because of the looks and seats, but definitely want comfort. Test drive was fine, but pretty short.
New or CPO/Used? If you have a used one, have you been happy with its reliability, etc? I figure I'd need to get to the $35k price level to really save enough to justify used (no rebates, incentivized financing, etc). Edmunds puts the TCO of buying a 2013 so close to new, I wonder if it's worth it. I can swing new, but it's definitely a lot of money.
Thanks for your help

I have a 15 F Sport.
I have never felt that the ride was harsh or even close to it. It's not floaty, and bumps do come through, but I still find it to be very smooth. I always get compliments about how smooth the ride is.
Good luck in your search.

I agree here, it's not harsh at all. Noticeably firms up in Sport+ but even then I don't find it a rough ride.

It really has a lot to do with tires. The ride is sporty but forgiving and you're still advised to dodge potholes. Sport+ can feel jittery and nervous on imperfect highway surfaces so I'll toggle it on and off.

Yeah I'd say it goes from firm to extra firm. There's no dial setting to loosen it up. Eco doesn't do that. If you want a pillow ride the luxury trim is where it's at I think, and it still has adjustable suspension.

I also have 15 F Sport and coming from a 15 ES I prefer the firmness of the GS its just right. The ES is perfect for a long drive where you dont have to steer a lot and just put on cruise and relax a bit. It has that "Boaty" feel. The GS is more precise in its steering so it responds more tightly.

I bought a 2014 F Sport CPO with 8k miles on it. First owner only had it for about 8 months and traded it in for an RX. There were some light scratches on it but other than that, no issues with car at all and I have been very happy with the reliability. The car now has 36k miles on it and I just replaced the stock Bridgestones with Michelin PSS. IMO, the ride is firm but so much smoother now with the Michelin's. I love driving in Sport+!

Thanks for all the thoughts! From a maintenance perspective, are you satisfied with the costs? Edmunds TCO calculator says $2100 in maintenance in year 1 for getting a 2013 model and that seems higher than what I'd expect.

Owner of a '13 non-Fsport here purchased CPO last year. So far i've replaced tires, rear brakes and rear rotors. I've done an oil change with OEM air filter/oil filter/cabin filter and mobil 1 synthetic. So far i've spent roughly $1100 after 1 year of CPO ownership. If you get a CPO car, look for something like a 13 or 14 F-sport with low miles. Reliability is excellent so far no hiccups and no major headaches except with dealership level of service (but thats a different story!). I've seen 13 and 14 F-Sports with under 30k miles for under $36k. Good luck!

I have a 2014 F-Sport lease that is up at the end of the month. Was going to lease a 2016 but Lexus has gone crazy on lease terms so I am turning mine in and we just purchased a
2013 CPO GS awd with the luxury package and a million other options (MSRP was $62800!) and I can say it rides a little softer and is way quieter going down the road. I attribute it
to the difference in the tires/wheels. Fsport has 19s and the luxury has 18s. I never felt the Fsport rode rough just firm but the tire noise drove me nuts!

Thanks AJLex19. Those costs seem reasonable.
Gutars4ME: are you just as happy with the 13?
Funny, my wife is all in on getting the new one, but my fiscally responsible friends/advisors are telling me it's idiotic even though I buy and hold my cars.

I am happy with the 13. I paid a little more than I should of but was willing because of the color (Meteor Blue). I was originally going to buy the leased 14 FSport but the buyout was way
more than what it was worth.$43,100. I paid $37888 for the 13 with 23,000 miles. I see you are in Seattle. Just my opinion but I would not go to Lexus of Bellevue as they are one of the
Lexus Plus dealerships engaged in the Lexus price fixing program. The price on the windshield or website is what you will pay and you won't be able to negotiate any add ons into the deal!
