Default Power trunk closer

My car did not come with a power trunk closer, and was wondering how hard would it be to retro-fit this? all my previous cars have had this and kind of miss this feature now that i don't have it.

Since no one has done it yet, lets just say it costs a couple thousands of dollars :/.

if you want factory, probably a couple grand in parts.

here is an DIY for a Mercedes, I doubt the Lexus system is much different:

if you want after market there are a bunch of kits made for hot rods that you can probably adapt.

No idea about the rest of the components (hinge assemblies, switches in the cabin, on the inside and outside of the trunk, and on the key, wiring, any necessary electronic controllers and programming thereof, etc.) or about the labour, but the opener assembly itself, p/n 85790-30050, is ~$1,275.

Just making a rough guess, the switches are probably another $200 all told.

My 2016 has the auto trunk closer, but my 2008 does not. While searching for some other options for my 2008 I discovered a company that provides lots of options for Lexus. Go to http://www.vaistech.com/newsite/ there you will find a automatic trunk closer for 299.95. Do not know anything about the product or the company.

VAIS Tech is a good company but what you are thinking of is an add-on to the factory power trunk so you can have a true hands free operation, something i would definitely get if i had that factory option. It does not solve my problem though. I am just going to have to deal without it.

Tejanp,
Sorry about that, I just saw the video demo and thought that it was a power trunk lift, in checking further I noticed that it would not work on my 2008 GS, so I did not read anymore. If I see any kit to open the trunk I will let you know.

It must just unlock the trunk and you still have to manually open it and close it.

Installation instructions only shows connections to electrical part of vehicle. No reference to any kind of lift mechanism.
