Default 30k service

hey guys,

I'm about to roll into 30k with mine..

what does an 30k service usually includes? any major?

I know there is air filter, cabin filter, brake fluid change.. but what else? what's the avg price for an 30k service?

Are you going to DIY?

Have you checked the MyLexus website to see what the manufacturer recommends for service?

Average price may vary from dealer to dealer and from dealer compared to indy mechanic.
Major savings if you take it to the indy mech.

Arnt we suppose to take the car in since we have the warranty going on, i usually have friend of mine who does all the work but I have rear sun shade button kinda loose and read trunk lip on the F sports in kinda loose on the sides. I donno if these items will cover under warranty.

According to a court ruling several years ago, you don't have to have all the maintenance done at the dealer for them to honor your warranty. As long as they use OEM parts, and you follow the services at stated intervals. Keep a record just in case the dealer asks when something fails or needs replacing under warranty. They just want to make sure the car wasn't neglected.

For the two items you listed, for sure have the dealers fix them under warranty.

Wear and tear items, oil/filter changes and maintenance....aren't "dealer only" fixes.

Get a complete breakdown of what the dealership is offering with each service, and ask them about service tiers for that recommended service marker.

Mine has been done on schedule but they were bleeding me on each service thanks to them choosing to use the "heavy duty cycle" or high wear schedule instead of the normal schedule for service items. On a 12k/year lease, it's ridiculous to do the heavy cycle maintenance. I finally called them on it at the 30k and saved a lot of money.

What did you do with your 30k service?

I think he did the normal 30k service instead of letting them milk him more on the heavy duty service 30k.

Exactly. If memory serves the 5k and 10k were free, then 20k was heavy duty and kinda seemed expensive. The 30k wasn't cheap _at all_, but it could have cost even more. They don't exactly announce that they're putting you on the heavy duty maintenance plan for life. Caveat emptor.

I suspect the 30k service was the last attempt for Lexus to milk people for more $$ before they return their leases?

20k is an oil change and cabin filter and maybe tire rotation. Maybe $50?

Good point. I wouldn't be surprised if this specific dealer checks to see if it's a lease or purchase, then does normal or heavy duty maintenance cycles depending on that alone. Anyway, not mad at the dealer, they're just chiseling for cash like anyone else, but I wanted others to be aware that dealers can and will do things like this.
