2016 IS350 f-sport or 2016 GS350 f-sport
Have any of you guys driven both a GS and an IS?
I want to make sure I'm thinking about this the right way.
I can have the IS and:
- an extra 8-10k in the bank
- more fun to drive car (corners better, slightly quicker, etc)
Or I can have the GS and:
- More comfortable experience for all, especially back seat adults
My question comes down to this: How much more fun to drive is the IS than the GS?
If both are equally fun, I'm very tempted to spring for the GS.
FWIW - I'm 45, married, a 17 year old and a 10 year old, and feel like the GS is more what a grown man should drive. Then again 99% of my driving is without back seat passengers - we have my wife's MDX for family outings.
Thank you for your thoughts!

is the fun factor in a GS and the IS the same... NO definitely not. I myself am in my 30's and would pass on the IS, had one in my twenties and I feel i need a more "adult" car. I enjoy the room and with the 16's coming with the new tach and new front end its hard to choose the IS over the GS, if your wallet allows

Seems like you and I have almost the same taste. My wife drive a 2014 MDX white/black inter and I drive 2013 GS F Sport white/ red cabinet . We used to have a IS350 but it gotten too small and its seem like all the kids around town have an IS. GS feels so much more adults. I'm in my mid 30's. I would go with the GS if I was you! Good luck.

I had an IS350 and I felt the overall build quality wasn't as good as the GS i traded up to. My IS felt a little too cramped but to its credit parking was easy to find in the city and it was wonderfully quick off the line.
The GS is fun to drive in its own right but has all the nice creature comforts. My thoughts, go with the GS - it will satisfy more of what you truly need/want.

I'm in my early 30's with no kids (or family).. even I choose the GS over the IS. At your age & with the family you have, GS.. no-brainer.
You and your family will appreciate all the LITTLE things in the GS over time... many things you probably don't even realize that the car has yet (owners generally discover these over time). The IS just isn't built to the same degree as the GS.. it's missing so many elements of the a true luxury car even though it carries the Lexus luxury brand name.. you can even ask the IS350 owners if they disagree and there will be no arguments.
I did find the IS more "fun" to drive.. mainly due to it being so light & nimble.. but there is more to life than just having a fun car for yourself (aka being selfish). If the most important thing to you is the FUN factor, I wouldn't even be looking at anything in the Lexus lineup imho.
There are so many pure sports car that will be more "fun".. but considering that I look at a vehicle as an overall package (not just for myself, but for others in my life too). It's hard to beat the GS in terms of value when you look at EVERYTHING that the car offers and compare it to the competition.
Hope this helps,

I ended up trading my 2011 IS-F for a 2015 GS. It was a tough decision...believe me! I will say that I am extremely happy with though as a daily driver. I'm 6'2" as well and even as much as I loved the IS-F, the smaller care is no where near as comfortable and luxurious. I wouldn't ever considered an IS outside of the F if you can afford it. Frankly, if you want to save a little cash over a new GS go find a 2011 or 2012 IS-F in good shape...waaayyy more fun than an IS350!!
