Default Question regarding transmission fit

Dear CL members...

I found one '13 GS350 AWD that having problems with tranny, my buddy has one sitting in the shop came off 13' GS350 RWD base model. Question would be if they are the same, so I can swap it w/out any problems...

Thank you in advance

The GS350AWD transmission is a A760H
The GS350RWD transmission is a A760E

Sounds like there is difference even though they both have 6 speeds. I just wonder if still gonna work with buying couple extra sensors etc or it's completely different model

I wouldn't consider it anymore than I'd consider trying to put a John Deere corn picker transmission in it.

My question is - a 2013 GS 350 should still be under factory warranty. Why does this particular GS 350 have a bad transmission that Lexus is not fixing/replacing? This doesn't make any sense...

can't swap a RWD trans into an AWD as it won't have the transfer case built in. Maybe you can take the trans apart and add the transfer case onto the RWD trans, but I wouldn't risk it as there might be other differences.

Car is on auction, description says "rear gear is not working...". I had to assume the worse case scenario if I need to replace tranny

Yes, you are correct... but there is certain conditions when dealer will do fix under warranty, if there is like undercarriage damage, they won't. Problem is that I can't check out GS in person. Tried to do some homework...

Again... thank you guys for all your input! CL is a great community

shurik74, if the car is an auction car - there is a good reason for it. My suggestion is to forget about that car entirely...and don't look back. Let the ripoff artists offering high-end used cars at independent used car dealerships (that you wonder how and why they acquired them instead of dealerships) buy that car at auction, repair it [to some extent], and then resale it to some unsuspected buyer that will one day learn that Lexus will not warranty the vehicle.
