Hello all. I recently totaled my 06 GS300 and decided to get the 2013 GS350 F Sport and love it!

i wanted to black out all my silver trim (around the doors, front grille, back trunk plate, etc).

whats the best solution?

i've seen several members already do it and was wondering what the best way to go about it was.

Welcome! Vinyl wrap is your best bet. Find a shop that does car wrapping and they'll do it.

thats what i was thinking as well but was worried about it peeling from car washes

will post pics soon after i get the trim blacked out

Unless it is a touchless car wash.... please avoid the automated car washes... (unless you don't mind fine scratches on your car)

Paint is the "cleanest" method, not the cheapest however. I say that because I painted all of the chrome, and I also have vinyl wrap, and it is not as resilient (although the wrap is on my wheels). Either way, results look great.

cheapest is plasti dip, most expensive is paint, vinyl is in between. I can't really see a big difference between paint and vinyl, I'd do vinyl if i was going to do

I have it on most of the chrome pieces and the car washes are not the problem, rock chips and debris on the road are the biggest causes for any issue with the vinyl. I have on grill trunk piece, only place is the door, I have yet to get it done.

I personally am a fan of Plasti Dip. It's super cheap and is very easy to use. There are a ton of YouTube videos explaining how to use it. The only thing is that the prep time can be a little time consuming. I recently did the chrome molding around my windows and it took me about 3 hours total. That includes prep and wait time for Plasti Dip to dry.

I would do vinyl, played with Plastidip in the past and I do love the stuff but it has a orange peel-like texture. Vinyl is smooth and looks better than Plastidip IMO.
