Default Navigation screen not responsive

Hey guys. Any one have this issue? It just started doing this today. I did have to change the battery today because it was giving me issues to start the car. I read that disconnecting the battery might help but I changed the battery and it did not do the trick. I have read some threads on this being a common problem on the 06-07 is but haven't come across it for the updated 08 navi on the gs. Any suggestions? I have read the diy to rewrite the connectors on the touchscreen but I really hope I don't have to take apart the navi. It's hard to believe it just broke from one day to the other and I doubt jump starting the car had anything to do with it. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I thought the update is software... not hardware.. Could be wrong. I recall others replaced the touch screen membrane or whatever they called it and it worked for them. Try searching to find more info.

not sure myself. I removed the negative battery terminal for ten minutes in hope of fixing it but still nothing. Not sure if it should be done for a longer period of time. I feel comfortable taking out the whole console. Looks pretty straight forward on YouTube but digging into the screen and applying the magic pen I don't trust myself lol. If there is someone local who knows how to do it I wouldnt mind paying a few bucks to fix the connection on the digitizer.

So after more reading I think this will be the direction I will head in if I can't get it to work any other way. It's crazy how I started reading a thread in 2012 using a circuit writer to fix the connection to the most recent post in 2016 of the brand new digitizer being available for 40 bucks on eBay. I would still like to get some feedback but atleast I found a 40 buck solution instead of 400 for a new screen on eBay or 2-3 grand at the dealer.
