Trunk Locking Noise When Doors Close?
Hi fellow 3GS owners, I just about have my 2009 GS350 AWD finished after buying it with light damage in April from an auction. I had the car repaired (No rear end damage),fully repainted and did some cool mods that I will show when done. I had the trunk taken completely off, and when it was put back none of the buttons from inside or key fob worked. I unplugged the battery for 10 Mins and then put it back and it started working again.
Now when you open and close any of the doors on the car you can hear a locking/mechanical noise coming from the trunk, is that normal? When the trunk is open and you close the doors, nothing. Also when the trunk button is pressed does it just unlock the lock and the trunk raises slightly, or does the trunk fully pop up? Any help would be great, thanks.

When you close the trunk the rear lock latch sucks the trunk in, and it does make a gear sound. When you open it, it just unlocks and you manually raise the trunk open.
As far as the trunk lock making a sound when you press lock or unlock on the key fob I am not sure if theres sound coming from the trunk or not. When I get the chance I will try it out on my car.

No the trunk noise comes from shutting any door on the car. Once you open and close any door, the trunk makes some type of mechanical noise, maybe the latch. Besides that the trunk is working exactly how you describe it. If I leave the trunk open while closing the doors, no noise. I'm stumped

I just went outside and checked my car.
1.The truck if you press the sensor on the trunk the trunk will lift slightly 1/8-1/4", and when you close it the lock sucks in the trunk and locks it.
2. When I press lock and unlock on the key fob only the door locks lock and unlock and not the trunk, so you may have a problem, or possibly someone changed the setting on the ecu. You can take it to the dealer to have them scan it to see.
There is a button in the glove box, its the valet button and many people accidentally trigger it and are not able to access their trunks unless you press the button again.

Yeah I'm aware of the valet button and I pressed it on & off, no issue. My trunk is operating fine I just get the noise when shutting the doors. I never take my car to the dealership espically for something like this, and I guarantee this will get them confused also.

Ok, I figured out what it was. Under the carpet in both right and left of the trunk deep in the rear quarter panels there are vents and they need to be opened mine were closed and making that locking type noise when any door of the car, was closed.
