So...Rear view mirror fell off
So today when I go to get into my car after work I notice a piece of plastic on the driver side rug. First thing that comes to mind is that someone broke into my car and ripped something up. That instantly exits my mind when I look at the windshield and notice my rear view mirror is hanging by the wire. The plastic part is the covers the wire on the windsgield that leads to the mirror. So my first plan of action is to go buy the kit at advanced auto and reattach it but it seems that in all the instructions of the kits I saw it stated that you need to glue on the metal button to the windshield and let it sit for 30 minutes so it seals correctly then attach the mirror.Only problem is I can't get the metal button off the mirror to do so. I figured I would ask her before I try to glue it back without removing the button and then regret it later lol. I've searched the forum but I haven't found any threads that specify on what my concern is. Any help is greatly appreciated it.

Thank you for your reply. I saw the screw better today in the sunlight and was able to take it apart. For some reason i was under the impression that screw is what held the housing together. I think a youtube video confused me as well as it was showing how to remove it by putting a flathead under the button and pushing down on a spring screw. Either way i got it off and going to re attach it shortly. Thanks for your help.
