Catalytic converter 8 year warranty? help!
Hi everyone, I need some help.
Long story short my fuel injectors went bad, replaced those for 1500. Check engine light still on, now its the catalytic converter. Dealer wants 4k. The car is 2008 GS 350 with 66170 miles on it. Is it true the federal law is 8 years and if my car is 2008, has it expired already?
Thanks please help!

Which side and which one went bad? You can always use an aftermarket, theres many on ebay that will fit your car. Magnaflow makes good quality parts! Also you can buy a used cat, depending on your local law some salvage yards will sell them for less. Also you can purchase the exhaust and take it to any good muffler shop for a quick install. Its not very simple to swap out the cat.

Left side/driver side. If I buy an aftermarket, I will also need to change the other side right? The parts (cat and exhuast pipe) from parts.com comes out to about 2300. I called a salvage yard and they told me they dont sell cats its against law and that I should contact a muffler shop. What do you think of going to a muffler shop? I also bought cataclean but have not used it because was told it can spread the dirt into the other cats and screw them all up...Thanks!!

I don't mind to cough up another 1k for the cat, I just cant do another 1500 for the long exhaust pipe. They told me I need to change both since it can be hard to take off. Thanks

For now I have cleared the code in hopes that it wont come back just enough for me to pass emissions. Will keep you posted. If that does not work, what do you think of Cataclean?
