Help Needed... Found grease splash around left rear wheel area after shock replaced
Hello,
Last week I had my car visited the dealer due to left rear shock leaked which was replaced under warranty...
This weekend is the first time that I took the car out for a drive... When I got home, I noticed the left rear wheel area is covered with grease... I don't know where it came from... look like brownish goo... I splashed around the inner side of the wheel and also cover part of the rear brake caliper, brake line, and control arms.
Anybody have an idea what kind of grease is this?? Where is the grease came from???
Any help are appreciated.... I also just send my SA an email about this.... Hope to hear from him on Monday morning.
Thanks
P.S. My GS is all stock... No modification.... Currently has 62K on it.

Thanks... That's what I suspect.... I couldn't see that far.... I can see the bottom side, but could't see where it leak....
I just got a call from my SA.... He suspect the same thing... He thinks that it may be a residue left from shock replacement.... He said that the CV boot may have been over stretch and some grease got squirt out....
I think that there is something wrong to the boot... because the area was dry the day I got my car back from the dealership after shock replacement.... and the grease did not show up until I took the car out on Sunday..... I got the appointment to drop it off on Tuesday night to get it check out on Wednesday....
Will see what they find out...

yeah, look like it got overstretched and torn. Or it was getting dry and crispy (the boot cover) and it failed.
Either way they should replace it no problem (I believe it's a $15 part).

Update!!
I just got my car back yesterday... It is exactly what you guys said... It was axle grease... They replaced the whole axle... They said in the report that CV boot is currently unavailable... so they replace the whole axle.... The good note is that Lexus warranty pay for it...
I will have to take my baby out more to make sure that nothing else break... since my warranty will run out next year.
