‼️Rear end off center‼️
Hey all, As i was looking at the rear of my ES recently I noticed the right rear wheel pokes out about an inch or so more than the left rear wheel... I got under fhe car and noticed the jack point in the rear is off to the right of the piece that is above it which looks to me like they were made to be aligned together.. This leads me to believe something is not set up correctly? Control arms are at uneven lengths? I’m not sure thats why I am here .. I attached two photos to show exactly what i’m talking about I appreciate any input . Thank you in advance.

simply because the right rear wheel pokes out of the wheel well and rear bumper about and inch more than the left rear. I couldn’t help but notice , as I am very particular with little things like that. I have taken the wheels off multiple times, rotated them, and nothings changed. I’ve looked at other 5th generation ES and noticed some have the same problem, while others do not.

I can't seem to see the issue based on the pictures. Also has this always been like this or is the observation new. Looking at my 2010 I don't see any stark difference on how far the wheels are recessed into the wheel wells. Do you have stock wheels and are the off sets the same. Also are there any spacers involved. My car has 50K miles and has never been aligned so everything is as it came from the factory. Does your car track straight and do you have any tire wear. Also has the car ever been hit. Your best bet is to take it to an alignment shop and see if they can do a 4 wheel alignment . That would determine if there is a problem. Also better pictures showing the difference might give us a little more insight.

A used tire or a different tire on the front will give you a little different track. Also considering 1 tire wore more then the other it indicates an alignment issue. Now the difference in the rear would be a tracking issue where if you were following the car you would see it is not driving parallel to the road. It will look like the car is driving at an angle to the side of the road. A 4 wheel alignment would show this. Keep us posted as you have a lot of miles on the car if it hasn't been aligned before.

the car has had an alignment before as it got new tires prior to me buying it at 76k. Should a 4 wheel alignment solve the issue with the rear end being off? Will definitely keep you posted. Thanks again.

A 4 wheel alignment by a good alignment shop will tell you if the rear wheels are not tracking correctly. Lexus doesn't have a straight axle in the rear and just has hubs mounted to adjustment points . I don't know how much adjustment (in/out) is available but with a laser alignment system they would be able to tell. If you wanted to check you would need to remove both rear wheels and measure the face of the hub to the centerline of the car chassis. That would tell you if there is a difference. I suspect you would need to maybe make a fixture or use a 2 foot level on each hub. It's easier to have a shop look at it. So unless there is a drivability problem or your rear tires are wearing I would wait until you replace the tires and get the alignment done after that. I would also recommend that you find a alignment specialist and not just the major tire chains.
