Yes, I have owned the LS430. I can say because I had it. And seeing the LS460 report, and posts by other owners. Even people who owned LS460s that had LS430's will admit, The LS430 is better car.. READ the Forums.. I've been on here since 2002.. You have like 11 posts. and you're the expert? Do read up on all the forums (LS460 and LS430) and get back with me about the LS430.. Thank you..

If you willing to go LS's. I would def go LS460 over LS430.. I would try to get one with lower miles, like under 100K miles. '09's is about 6.5 years old so 75-80K miles on Avg. There are plenty of them with lower miles than that but I won't buy at high miles if you're planning to add more miles to it. Don't Buy '07-'08 LS460 because they had the Valve Spring recall. '09's would be my first pick on the LS460's cause they look almost the newest sharing the same bodystyle before the re-fresh but at a very good price point to get one..

I have a gs430 (06) and have had ZERO reliability issues. i'm at 115k and have done all recommended maintanence services. I take care of my car and do spark plug changes every 30k (I buy the 30k mi plugs, not the long-life plugs), oil changes every 10k (redline synth), and have all my other services done with Lexus fluids.
I had a squeaking issue once that was in the rear near the window and that's about it. *knock on wood*
My car plays pretty hefty bass to shake things around in the car (not 150dB, but enough for the windshield wipers to do a dance). and the car's still stable interior-wise.
The only fallback I'd say there is to this car is the mpg's you get if you're not light on your feet.

well, the dealer on a 2009 LS460 doesn't want to budge even a bit, I mean its a good price $18k as it is, but a little out of my comfort zone. So LS460 is OUT.
its between GS430 and GS350 and GS450H...... What do you guys think? 2006 LS430???? I am not too concerned with timing belt, those things rarely break.
Most of you are saying that I should stay with GS350, but I really want an 8cyl car. I had a GS350 Fsport 2014, and really want something different, yet reliable.
And I found as recommended here GS460. What does GS460 has that GS450H and GS430 doesn't? Also, why omit the 2008 Gs460? There is a recall sure, but it would get taken care of by the dealer, why such a worry? And if i am not mistaken, the same recall is on all 2007-2008 GS models, and GS450h
The GS460 I found, 90k miles 2008 for $19,000 which is out of my price range.
GS430- Found these 3, 2006 models. I've been told here to stay away from 2006, so I am kinda scared now.

no but you posted it in the car chat and i merged it with the thread here
i had the gs400 and the ls460. honestly i think the 400/430 motor is noticeably smoother than the 460.
talk to any senior analyst / tech, the ones i know they all say go with the 430
0-60 i think the gs430 and 350 are about the same, but at 80+ mph the 430 will smile and walk away. sorry but the v8 is just effortless. (and i have a gs350 now)
Well, take my word. I've owned my GS400 for almost 17 years now. No Problems. The GS430 motor is pretty much bored out GS400 motor. Let me tell you the GS430 is smoothest luxurious motor Lexus has ever put out besides the 460, but IMO I think the 430 motor is the best to date, its the same motor in the LS430, which is said to be the best Lexus ever made. I have a 2005 GS430, the last year of the 2GS, this car is so luxurious yet a beast of power especially on the hwy. My GS430 is so night and day compare to the older GS400 which shares the same bodystyle.

I don't know where your're reading this, but the GS430 isn't that slow.. haha
Its a lil the slower the previous GS400 but pretty comparable.. I 've driven the GS350 many times, its no way faster than a GS430.. maybe the IS350 but not the GS350.. where's your proof?
Here's my proof in this Road and Track Test comparison..

I teied to PM you but ur box is full. Can you explain about 2008 gs460. Why is it a problem?

The Bad, the 430 motor comes in the '01-'05 2GS and 06-07 3GS or 01'-06 LS430. You can get an '06-'07 GS430 which is the first two years of 3rd Gen. To my knowledge there isn't any reliability issues with this car as far as motor-wise but the 3GS has a few kinks you can read about on this forum.. IF it were me, I would look for '06-'07 GS430 or '09'-'11 GS460 (very rare if you can find one) I omitted the '08 GS460 because of the valve spring recall for that year.
If you're okay with the older bodystyle like on the 2GS, there are a few of them around with low miles.. Newer is not always better. I work for car company and drive a lot of newer cars on regular basis, there isn't much out there like the GS unless you're willing to spend north of $60K.. If you're looking for Supreme Luxury car that is the most reliable, why not a LS430?
