Default screen keeps going off..anyone know why?

So my screen has been acting up for a while now...not too sure why. I have an '08 350 without navigation. From time to time, the screen will automatically go off regardless of what's being viewed. I took a look and fooled around with some settings (the auto transition from climate to trip or whatever you call it) even tried pushing the screen off button in hopes it would reset or clear the problem. Does anyone else have this issue? It's just annoying because I have to constantly re-awake the screen only to have it happen again moments later...

Did you turn off auto transition, and flip through two or more menu's to try and disable the screen turning off?

If that doesn't work, maybe a battery reset MIGHT work. Not 100%, but it's worth a try

Do you have polarized sunglasses on when this happens by any chance? If so, rather than waking it up just move your head/angle to the screen and see if it comes back.

There's an option in the display menu that allows you to switch the screen to "off." This might be the case to which you have to toggle it off/ disable the feature, and select 'ok' so that it saves it. Hope this helps

Happens to mine if the battery is extremely weak - even if it can still start. Charge/replace the battery and all sorts of gremlins are prevented in the GS.
