Hello, folks! New GS460 owner here...

As much as I have liked test driving the 450h cars I too am worried about the hybrid batteries and overall complexity. I did test drive a GS350 RWD and I thought the throttle response was not too bad so if you say the GS460 is better, that's certainly encouraging.
How do you find the overall handling. The car mags pretty much all give the GS460 a thumbs down but I don't always agree with their reviews. At least for the case of my GS400 it never had good reviews for handling but I actually don't mind it at all. Granted it's not a Porche but with a few mods its not a bad sports sedan. Does the 460 handle like a boat or is it reasonably nimble?

The GS 460 also offers the advanced Active Power Stabilizer system that reduces body sway and enhances vehicle control during cornering. This fast-acting system uses electric actuators, rather than slower hydraulic actuators used in most competitors’ systems. An Electronic Control Unit (ECU) calculates the force needed to counter excess body sway, which is then applied to the stabilizer bars by the front and rear actuators.

I'm not sure where it would fit based on the picture in this thread. It shows the trunk and wheel well on a car with APSSS.

Many cars that came new with runflats did not come with a spare and some owners later picked up a space saver (that's all that was offered in North American market). I think I remember seeing that some other markets had a full size spare and a different tub well in the trunk.
Edit: APSSS seems like a really awesome option, but improving handling through electronic wizardry and then requiring runflat tires seems like a giant contradiction.

Just wanted to point out the real (Lexus reported) numbers of GS460s manufactured. Thomas GS4 claims that "The GS460 was 3GS only; ~1600 were ever made from 2008-2011", but that isn't quite right. A few more made it off the factory floor (but not that many more!). See attached. Sorry, but right now I don't have the numbers for 2011 or later (if there were any made in later years -- I seem to recall seeing somewhere that they were available only through special order, and I'd love to learn of any from those years!). Regardless, the total numbers are very low. I count 1715 units from 2008 to 2010, and I assume that is global. So -- if you have one, keep the maintenance and warranty work up, avoid impromptu body work, and please be aware of how truly fortunate we are! Our 2008 GS460 is absolutely wonderful, especially with studded Hakkapelittas all-'round for winter! Love it -- can't be beat! Cheers to all / LexLeezard

LexLeezard, for what it's worth, here's a mighty fine example of a 2011 GS460 for sale. They are out there, believe it or not!

I appreciate the call-out; it's interesting to see the actual production numbers. Now if we could only get the 2011 PDF...
