ZLA the wrong way?
I use brackets so I don't have to drop the engine, but I wouldn't do this. It just doesn't seem right. I'm all for getting times down, but I personally would never sacrifice the quality of my work. This has front cover leak all over it.

Ahh okay, I've never seen an engine reassembled while still IN the bay.... but I much agree with you, you need a completely pull of the engine, so you can see at all angles and work on the car correctly.
Why is he replacing the pistons out of curiosity?

The pistons are replaced to correct a misfire. Part of the ZLA service campaign. I use brackets to hang the engine while its still in the car as well to save time, but I won't partly remove a component *front cover- that is sealed with FIPG. (form in place gasket). To save time.

Ohhh okay! That's a crazy diagnosis to figure out the car was having backfire due to a faulty piston!
I gotcha now GSK, have you issued your concerns to him? I mean, now it's too late lol.
