Default Fog Light/Day running light question

Hey guys Ive been going through this forum looking for the answer but everything is everywhere. My question is i want to replace my stock yellow fog light bulbs with white ones without a kit. I just want to change the bulb to match my stock headlights that are white. What bulb is good to achieve the same color as the stock headlight bulb. Also i want to change out my day running lights with whiter ones instead of the yellow look also. Please let me know what bulb i need thanks . i want everything to not overheat also so the same wattage please

Go search eBay and Google for HB4/9006 type and look for the 6000ºK ones.
Alternatively swap out for same only LED for lower power drain.

jdmtoys is a vendor here, so should give member discount, iirc.
v-leds is another.

I got mine from V-LED, way brighter than the one you can buy from eBay or the vendor here!!
Here is how it looks for the most updated 630 lum per LED bulb I got from V-LED last week! Even sunny daytime you can see my car coming very well!!

It would be nice if somebody would make a hybrid halogen/LED bulb for DRL purposes... I'd like the LED to be on when the DRL power is applied but for it to automatically switch over to the halogen bulb when highbeam power is applied to the bulb...

This really would be the best of both worlds... I suppose the big problem there would be the halogen bulb melting the crap out of the LED portion.

I don't know if ashley1977 put warning cancellers or not.( BTW nice pics)

I put LEDS on my DRLs and they look great. They're not just a bulb switch though. I had to add warning cancellers in-line with each light to eliminate flickering. No biggie, all plug and play. Here's my set up

64 LED DRLs facing the sun 5 pm ( off center )

Directly Centerred ( noticably brighter )

At dusk

close up

8k HID's heaadlights 6K HID foglights..... LED parking lights.

Good luck...

Stock wattage... Check
HID color match... Check
Easy stock plug in install... Check
Cheap like Borscht... Check

I run a set like these in my car, they are a perfect match to the HID low beams. Look great and work fine.

$2.40 (ish) a bulb, shipped to your house!

DRL are (as others posted) a compromise. At present there is NO solution that enables all of the stock features, and works with the stock wiring...

You can stick in a bulb like this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/12V-65w-9005...42adae&vxp=mtr

(again, about $2.90 a bulb, shipped)...

But they are yellowish (like all halogens will be at half voltage) DRL levels.. Nice HID colored light at High Beam though....

I'm no way affiliated with that ebay vendor, it is just an example, there are dozens of Flee-bay vendors who will sell 5000K tinted bulbs at similar (and even lower) prices.

For one of the 9005 (DRL) and 9006 (Fog Light) bulbs you can probably get, go with these:

iJDMTOY 5w/12-SMD CREE LED Bulbs

You'll need the decoder kit with the DRL's though so PM me for more info.

The one I got from V-LED is also plug and play, just need one module each side!!
I have some pictures shows how bright with the old 400 lum 9005 LED got from V-LED at dusk,
I will take some pictures with new 630 lum 9005 LED at dusk when I get a chance...

Until such times as 15w 9005 LEDs come onto the market, you're never going to match the luminous output of 55w halogens.
Same too for the 9006 fogs.

So if you put the bulbs in for the day running lights and the adapters it will be whiter but i will loose my high beam ability right??? For the fog lights are the ones 2008gsh pointed out for 3 bucks anygood? Should i go with led or the other ones for the fogs??

Depends on what the fog lights are on your car for, in your mind!
If you're the sort that likes to drive around with their car lit up like a Christmas tree, then LED is the answer.
If you want to retain proper usage for when foggy conditions could be experienced, then a "coloured" halogen bulb or aftermarket HID. Ideally the colour of both would be yellow, so as to cut through the fog rather than reflect straight back off it, like the main lights do.

this is exactly what i have been looking for. i have already ordered my white LEDs and decoder for my drl's and cant wait to instal. just one question i currently have an HID kit for my fogs but im not liking the fact that its only yellow once it reflects off the ground. i want it to be yellow coming out of the fog light itself. will LEDs give me what i want or do i need to get better HID kit? and if i go with LEDs do i need a decoder for the fogs just like the DRL's or do i just need the bulb
