Key Fob Range
Now that summer is starting to come around, i want to start using the feature that will roll my windows down by pressing and holding the unlock button on my key fob. Only thing is, i cant get it to go down until i am very close to the car, i would guess it at 10-15 yards. Basically i cannot do this until i am just across a small street. With my old car (Subaru) i could unlock/lock from inside my building (at least an extra 20 yards past the current range and looking through glass, not brick), which is essentially my goal.
SO, my question is: Is my remote weak or is that just how far all Lexus remotes transmit? I have 2 fobs and both have similar ranges... Im basically trying to avoid taking a trip to the dealer, just for them to say that they work fine.

Have you tried to change the battery? Maybe weak battery(?)
I actually need to get this feature activated the next time I'm at my dealer for service. Not sure how long the range is.

Thats my main question, i figure the battery is low but if thats the standard range of the key fob, then why waist time going to the dealership when i have so many smart people here haha

That's abt the range on mine as well. I am able to lock/unlock from a greater distance away than when im trying to lower the windows. So im thinking that the distance reduction was done by design...perhaps so u dont roll down ur windows by accident

Ok, so i may not know Lexus that well, but i do know technology. By that logic, yes, under the chin will work better but it wont work any better than raising the fob to head level (or higher) and doing the hokey pokey while you do it. At that point, its just about getting the remote above obstacles that are low (waste level) and getting it away from other devices that might interfere (ie, cell phone in your pocket).

another thing people say is u can transmit the radio waves through your cell phone. example, youre at one place with your fob and your friend is at your car in another place one of you can call the other, you press unlock on your fob, the rf travels through your phone to his and to the car.....yeah i couldnt get that one to work
