Smell of hot rubber?
Hi all, has anyone had this one?
GS 430 S3, unmodified.
After caning the car a bit, when I park up and get out of the car, I can smell hot rubber, (faintly, not smoking rubber or anything real bad).
The tyres only feel warm to touch.
I wonder if it might be exhaust mount rubbers or something.
Any ideas? Anything worth investigating more, or just forget it?

Agree. The GS brakes are infamous for overheating, when pushed or driven serpentine roads downhills. A German magazine managed to get a brake failure to GS430 twice in their brake test.

Well, it does smell like rubber, I can tell the difference. Unless GS pads smell just like rubber......
Can happen after heavy right foot without any particularly hard braking

LOL my 03 4runner emits this very same smell from the back tire area after a drive that is longer then 30 mins. AFAIK at least for my 4Runner is normal as i know of another guy who has this same smell after the same scenario. After a drive to Vegas and pitstop at a gas station it smelled like i just did a burn out (no smoke) but odor was pretty noticeable.
