2008 GS350 Ipod and Sirius integration in shark fin...done succesfully
I have an 08 GS350, navigation
Anyways I bought both units from www.integrationsolutions.net this place is very knowledgeable and will help you..plus respond to you really quick via emails
Easy to install!
I am no pro for sure..took about 2 hours total due to the fact I didnt know where the shark fin connector was, etc
Here are some tips to save you time (if I had...could have been done in less than 1 hour total).
1) disconnect only negative terminal of car battery
2) remove the radio (use gloves when grabbing the pullouts..makes it easier to do)..this is the hardest part to do
3) The shark fin adapter cable connects in the trunk inside the right panel....remove a few clips....it is covered in some foam and electrical tape. the small clips pop out with a screw driver..the round one near the trunk closure unscrews
4) To take antennae wire from trunk to radio area, there is a space behind the right rear seat...access it from the right rear trunk panel you remove to plug in shark fin antenna.....just push a bunch of the wire through the space you already see some cable going through....reach between seat and door area and grab cable...then just route the cable under the molding along door jams
5) inside glove compartment to the left is a little piece to pop out...put the ipod wire through it
6) mount both the ipod and sirius Vais units with velcro right behind radio (plenty of space !!)
7) Sirius unit can go in glove compartment or up under carpet near glove compartment.
next I am going to try the navigation override module.

The XM or Sirius should be in your trunk. The tuner for the radio is up in the cabin and if you have ML the amp should also be in your trunk. If you push the SAT button and its not doing anything then you need to order the kit and either install it yourself and/or have someone do it for you. The Vias SL2S gets installed behind the radio. There is a DIY Navi Hack and it follows the same insturctions to remove everything you need to install. With the Vias unit you will just push your CD button an additional time to get over to the MP3 player and dont loose anything else.
Hope that is of help and answers your questions.
Welcome to CL for both of you!
Edit: since I am not 100% sure can anyone confirm if the XM box is in the trunk or not? I have the SharkFin to install and hope the wire does not run the whole car. I have the trunk mounted antenna and its ugly and it seems to get poor reception. Now that its getting warm out want to do this soon. Thanks!

That is your amp. In my last Lexus the tuner box for XM went just above that area, you would have to pull the liner out to get at it. I am not 100% sure if the tuner is in the same spot but I cant imagine why it would not be. I will find out soon when I take off my trunk mounted antenna.
If you push the button on the radio and it doesnt work you dont have it

^ you can get one from the dealer. I got mine from someone on here that was selling. You just have to drill for it. I have had XM for years now and this car has the worst reception out of any car I have had and I can only pinpoint it to the trunk mounted antenna. It also looks cheap IMO. I had also considered just moving it into the car and mounting it under the window by the 3rd brake light. I did that in a BMW and it worked with no issues.

My last Lexus had the shark fin and I never had a problem. This seems to loose the signal and I am guessing its the antenna. I am going to try it so I hope it works I like the look of it unlike most so worst case it will look much better then the black box on my trunk (lol)...

I had Sirius put in my car by 212 Motorsports in Staten Island NY. I bought the shark fin antenna kit for Sirius (my car already had the shakr fin). I dont think they installed it right because I have a small little antenna for Sirius on the front windshield. IF they did it right I'd think that wouldn't be needed and it would run through the shark fin. It works fine but it would have been nice if he just used the shark fin only. Or perhaps you still need that small little black antenna thing in addition to shark fin, but I doubt it.
