Default GS300 or GS350???

Hey guys im new to this forum and ive been frying my brain over the concept of which GS to get....I'm comin from a 99 Honda Prelude so even 245 horses seem more than sufficient for me but the 350's horsepower just sounds so intoxicating. for all of you who own a GS300 are u more than 100 % satisfied with your car and the way it performs or do you wish you had waited longer for the 350?

You might try driving an ES350 and comparing its acceleration to the GS300 - the suspension will be squishier but the engine will be the same. I did this comparison when trying to decide which car would replace my 2nd gen GS400 - and I wound up deciding on the GS430!! I liked the 300's handling better but there's no substitute for acceleration!

Welcome to Clublexus. Please check that link out. A GS 300 does times of 0-60 in high 6s low 7s. The GS 350 will be a whole second quicker, that is a very big differece.
Another big reason some are waiting, the GS 350 will have the new Gen 5 Navigation with better graphics etc.

I would search around and read, most here are very happy with their 300. My strategy would be wait until the 350 hits, drive it and drive a 300. If the 300 has enough power (it should), you will be able to get a great deal on them

Welcome to Club Lexus.

I used to own a 2004 GS300. I loved it very much. But I wish it had a little bit more power. But to each his/her own.

You can buy a 2006 GS300 or GS430 near invoice. Or you can wait for the new GS350.

I test drove a 2006 GS430 and it was fantastic!!!

Good luck.

The GS300 has a 245hp/3L V6 vs the ES's 272hp/3.5L, while the IS has 306hp with the addition of direct injection. The GS and ES obviously have more interior room and are more comfort-oriented than the IS, although the IS has all the same luxury features, save for the drop-down panel that hides the mirror/trunk/fuel door switches (if one can consider that a convenience). For someone who drives a Prelude, the IS would be a better match in terms of driving characteristics than either the GS300 or ES350, unless he is looking for a more "mature" vehicle.

given that you will probably pay about the same price, i would ONLY get the gs350 no question asked. much faster, and seems like it will play mp3. there is almost no reason for me to get the gs300

GS350 will come with the IS350s 306 hp engine, not the 270ish hp engine of the camry ES avalon RX, probably makes the same mileage but has significantly more power/trq

No one has driven a GS350 yet so its impossible to tell how someone will think of it.

I currently have a modded 2000 prelude manual BTW, waiting for the 07 IS350, nice to see another 5th gen prelude owner here

Well, you can get a gs300 way below msrp right now, but I don't think you can do that with the 350. At least not when it first comes out. Also, I won't be surprised that the msrp on the 350 is higher than 300.

Or you can do what digaslaze@ did, get a 430 !! I am sure you can get a 430 at a very good deal right now too! Good luck!!
