If you've read my other posts, you already know I am about to buy a new 2003 GS430. What are my options regarding extended warranties?

Given the high-tech gadgetry, I am seriously considering an extended warranty. Since this is my first time buying a Lexus, what are my options?

Can I wait and purchase an extended warranty later? If so, can I purchase an extended warranty from any Lexus dealer, or must it be purchased from where I bought the car? What are the different levels of warranties offered by Lexus, and how much do they cost on average? I'm not inclined to go with a third party warranty, only one offered by Lexus, even though the third party warranties tend to be cheaper...

i would recommend conducting a forum search....i have read numerous threads on this topic.

1. You have until 36k miles to purchase the extended warranty
2. You can purchase the warranty from any Lexus dealer, but you'll probably get the best deal when purchasing your GS and the warranty at the same time
3. Platinum - highest level of protection. Gold - a bit less protection. Go to Lexus.com for all the details
4. Costs vary dealer to dealer. I paid $1400 for a 7 yr/ 100k Platinum warranty two years ago.
