Default Let's talk about installing paddle shifters

Assuming the car already has E-Shift. If not, this is a lot more complicated.

OEM Kia paddle shifters can be had for $45 on ebay such as here.

Assuming those are a simple button switch that requires only two wires to it, wiring should be butt simple. Find the right wires and splice in.

The hardest part would be mounting. If there's enough room behind the wheel, they could be attached to the column with a simple-ish bracket.

If you want them attached to the steering wheel you'd have to figure that out too, probably cutting some plastic to get to mounting holes.

Cleanest look would be to swap for a steering wheel that doesn't have the buttons, or even one that already has paddles.

Obviously you won't get any performance benefits buuuuuut paddles feel way better than buttons and if this can be done cheap enough, why not?

It's a relatively easy install, particularly if you already have e-shift. Just make brackets, drill and tap the wheel, wire them up and trim a little plastic. I used IS350 paddles and painted them graphite grey to match the cluster bezel and center dash. Here's a brief write up another member did with pictures. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...-2-days-3.html

That is EXACTLY what I like to see and hear. You talked about wiring directly to the ECU. Did you get full control that way, IE first gear downshift and holding the gear you're currently in when mashing the pedal? Which pins on the ECU would you wire into? I'd be interested in knowing more about that part of the mod.

Nevermind, I see you mentioned it was another member that wired them into the ECU...

Does seem too hard, im going to try it on Sunday on a set of is350 paddle shifters and see. I need to find a good way to mount it to the wheel without it looking out of place
