Default Spongey Brakes after bleeding

Hi guys im a little stuck and hope you can help!

I changed all my pads over the weekend and on the last corner (typical) the calliper broke as I was changeing them.

Bought a new calliper yesterday and fitted it.

Then bled the whole system. But I noticed air bubbles are rising from the fluid reservoir when bleeding but there is definitly no air in the system when bleeding the brakes at that end!

Brakes are now spongey and pedel will reach the floor with moderate effort.

Any ideas?

How you bleeding your system? After you installing the new caliper and bleeding you system, in which caliper you start bleend your break system?
First that you need to do is, start your engine
Secound, Start with your read passenger caliper, rear driver caliper, front passenger caliper and the last one, the front driver caliper. Try that way to see if you fill someting different on your break system. I hope and this help you with your break issue.

Yeah i did it exactly like that multiple multiple times using a lot of fluid. Although the car is right hand drive so the pattern is the opposite to us.

I'm sure that air isn't supposed to escape through the filler tank though? Would that point to a bad seal? Up at that end? Master cylinder is starting to come to mind and didn't want to spend that much ££££££ on a £500 car lol

Thank you for your help

air shouldnt be coming out of there.

when you changed the caliper, did the master cylinder drain out all the way? if so, you've got a lot more bleeding to do.

I'm 100% agree with U marshun. But if you think that the MBP going bad, check this thread:

2003 SC430 Master Cylinder Works in 1998 GS400

Good luck and I hope you can fix your issue soon.

I made sure that the brake fluid was always topped up. But I think i will just bleed it more and more and more and hope that works. May take it to a garage to do it now. Spent hours doing it lol

Thanks for your help!

I was literally stumped. No air coming out at any calliper after doing it over and over. I was just stumped that the brakes were so spongey but I can't think of any other reason why I thought I was loosing my nut!

Silly question but are you bleeding them yourself?
If so, how are you pumping the brakes and opening closing the valve on the caliper? (i use a broom stick to reach the pedal at times, lol)

Perhaps you're not giving it a full pump when pressing the brake pedal?
Are you using the old fashioned "clear tube in mayonnaise jar" technique (that's what I always do)?
If so, does the tube have a good seal around the nipple and is the other end always submerged in the brake fluid/mayo jar?
Is the nipple cracked open enough for fluid to flow out AND the tube is never allowed to be out of the fluid in the mayo jar?

If

Also, not sure if it matters (but I think it may) but I always bleed RR,RL, FR, FL in that order.

Good luck
