Headlight Lenses
Hey guys,
my Driver Side headlight lenses have some yellowing on them, but its on the inside. Anybody know if someone sells just the lenses, or should I just remove the lenses and clean them up myself? Thanks

if you decide to take the lens apart and sand and buff. i heard from someone that it would be a good idea to apply a clear coat on the inside of the lens because sanding will take away whats left of the UV protectant coat inside the lens, and it will yellow again, only this is it will be in the inside and you wouldnt want to take off the lens again since its a hassle.

FYI - if you separate them and clear the inside, you are wasting your time. You need to clear the outside to protect the plastic from UV rays. They will still be yellow if you do not treat the outside. Honestly if you aren't super worried about polishing them a few times a year, just polish them every couple months. They shine back up enough for you not to care.
If you have yellowing, they will never be 100% clear again. Its unfortunate, but its true. Toyota messed up with the coating they chose and as such, much like carbon fiber oem pieces do, will always have discoloration. If you get them new, you should do some research as to what coating is on them through whoever you get them through ( good luck ) or just prep and clear the lenses before they yellow on you.

Agreed you should remove the headlight and clean up the lens from the inside out...
Also add a better adhesive glue to prevent the headlight to be expose to the outside weather...

They will get yellow again. No matter what you do. You can sand and polish all you want, in time, they will yellow up again. Your best bet is to buy new headlights or leave it as is. Unless of course you don't mind sanding and polishing every 6-8 months.
