Weird idle sound after cold start seemed to drive fine, tried to shut down, smoked.
Drove to work normally, car didn't have any issues.
On my way heading home i turned the car on it started fine. Shortly after i started hearing a loud shuffling noise from the engine coming near the passengers side. It was loud and very unusual from the cold engine sound.
Made it about 3 blocks away from my job didnt notice any CEL or anything. I rather be broken down near my job than on a busy highway. So i figured id shut it down to be safe.
I went to turn the engine off, put the car in the off position with the key. The engine stayed on and continued to click, but i couldn't feel power to the engine. Maybe the engine's belts were on but it wasn't running. I pulled the key out of the car, and the engine finally shut down. But thats after some loud tapping noise that got gradually worse.
When it finally turned off i saw a bunch of smoke coming out near the top under the hood.
Went to try and turn the engine on, the cockpit lights were out, the power locks everything was dead.
Coworkers and a fire man passing by tried to jump my car but every time i placed the cable clamps down it started sparking and continued to spark while it was on the +/-. We couldnt get the batter to charge at all because of this.
Never even had any major issues with my GS3 at all... (What could it be!? And it something i can try to fix to get me to the mechanic instead of towing it.)
So stressed right now, i got stranded blocks away from my job 17+ miles away from home and my mechanic. Now i have to find a tow truck to get it from great neck long island to Brooklyn.
If anyone knows a decent tow truck company in the tristate that isnt too expensive let me know. Ty.

Your starter contacts maybe stuck to the plunger, stuck in the ON position...
Rebuild or replace your starter ASAP.
Good luck.
If it's a 300 you can tap the starter to get home.
