Default Coolant Color, red or pink?

So i called my lexus dealer and told them i need a coolant flush, but before i make an appointment i asked what color is the fluid and they said from now on they use the pink color toyota extended long life, and my car has the red color in it.

What do you guys think? should i go with the pink? Im thinking they switched to this method due to some type of environmental issues.

No not because of environmental issues, at least i wasn't informed, from what i understand when i was working with Toyota is that with Pink fluid the flush interval is longer than red hence the long life. They still carry red coolants for older cars. I've used both and personally i flush my coolant almost yearly so it doesn't really matter which one to use but I tend to stick with red for my 96 ls400 and my supras.

Only use the Red. Nothing else. Toyota dealer sells it for $25 a bottle. The pink is for Lexus/Toyota's newer lines

I would say just stick with red if you can - your maintenance schedule is based on red's lifetime, not pink.

Isn't the pink just a 50/50 mix of Red and distilled water?

^ Not exactly red and distilled water. But it is a mixture of some sort.

I would go with red, cause thats 100% coolant, where as pink is a mixture of coolant and water.

Red more bang for the buck
