Default red toyota antifreeze in first gen?

i am in the process of a complete fix up on my 91 LS400 and was wondering if it would be okay to switch antifreeze to the red toyota coolant. i called the local toyota dealership and asked them if it would be okay to switch from the green to the red or pink and the advisor suggested i stuck with the green coolant because the red or pink has been known to cause "pitting" whatever that means... i wanted to gather some input from all you lexus buffs, thanks!!!

Most of them are cross compatible but for ease, using the same is preferred. Only one as having incompatibilities a spell back was GM's Dexcool/orange before it was reformulated. IDK how it is now. If you are going to do a drain and flush, Toyota's red coolant should be fine. Have the tech define what and where the pitting occurred.

I've used a variety of coolant over the years and have no complaints from any of them. Only gripe is the one oblivious tech who put Prestone into the Dexcool ruining it. It even had a sticker indicating "Only use Dexcool" and how does one miss orange coolant.

"your coolant must contain ethylene-glycol type coolant for a proper corrosion protection of your engine that contains aluminum components. Use "toyota long life coolant or equivalent" quote from my 1999 LS400 manual word for word.

GUYS, SEARCH!!!!!

Red is Ok for our cars, pink supersedes red, so Pink is ok to use too. Really though, people have documented that in none aluminum radiators Toyota coolant tends to deteriorate the innards, as opposed to the green stuff. I know my 92' LS400 radiator is aluminum so it's good to go, however I know some people have copper ones out there, and in that case I would stick with green. If you are budget minded, stick with green regardless of what radiator you have. If you want to be a stickler, like most of us, I just like supporting Toyota, so I use most stuff OEM when I can. Again, search, you will find more than enough answers.
