I just had this problem my self, easiest way to do it from what i remember is take the sunroof off, theres 4 10mm? bolts holding it to the track, its not heavy but be very careful with it. once its off you should be able to see the tracks pretty good, use compressed air and blow the gunk out of the tracks. after i did that mine started to work when it wanted to. next i put wd40 on the tracks and this worked slowly at first but after i opened and closed it about 8-10 times and kept adding a bit of wd-40 it worked like new. try to use the compressed air first though

I had this issue with my moon/sunroof, turned out the motor was shot, I could have cleaned it but I just got a motor from a local parts place; ran me aroudn $100. A new motor is around $400.00; (p/n 63260-30080).
I imagine you can clean and de-grease, re-grease the motor itself. Also make sure to place everything back in the track/teeth when pulling it out or else it won't work.
After you replace or remove the motor/clean it, you can get the ecu reset for that; not the engine ecu but the dealer and anyone with techstream software can reprogram that for you (if it still is a bit funky).

thanks guys just got it done! uncapped the plastics on the side a degreaser and compressed air did the trick. put some motor oil on and done deal. FYI broke the plastic handle and thats when super glue came to action lol

leaking issues
Hey guys, got in my car the other day and found water drops on top of my heated seat controls and looked up and the headliner was soaked by the garage button. My sunroof/moonroof didn't work when i bought the car a few years ago. You can hear the moonroof motor try to tilt up but doesn't open. Does anyone where the drain tubes are located if I cant open the sunroof to clear the tubes out?

You may want to start a new thread, but you will need to take out the dome light in order to gain access to the motor. It's probably shot.
Once the dome light is out there is a video on YouTube about how to open the sunroof manually (or just buy a new motor). You will see two drain holes once the sunroof is open, one on the drivers side and one the passenger.

May you post the video that you're mentioning Kevin3344 I would appreciate it! I kinda know where everything is and my motor is fine I have a spare one just in case but I'm just not sure about how to do this. Regarding your problem 2kCamikilA I would say vacuum lines may also cause this problem and drain holes too they are located in driver's and passenger's openings of the sun roof/moon roof

Here you go...the 2GS is similar. There is a video if you scroll down towards the bottom of the page:
