i actually just installed a 10" kicker sub in there. To be honest... it sounds kinda weak. I ended up using a box to run 2 more subs. So now I have 3 subs in my car.

JL makes one for marine application, which I'm sure would work: http://www.jlaudio.com/marine-audio-...fle-subwoofers

Actually, looking at the specs, the JL seems better than my Alpine SWR-M100 ..
JL vs Alpine:
Qts: 0.796 vs 0.49.
Fs: 46 Hz vs 38.3 Hz
Xmax: 13mm vs 12.54 mm

Would the Qts alone make the JL louder/deeper in bass response?

I think the higher qts value will make you think you're getting more low end response because it will be less peaky. The rolloff will be more gradual. But you're not going to get down to the really low notes because of how high the fs is. The motor won't be able to control the cone.

To answer the question though, I would choose the JL. I found the marine subs to be overpriced.

I used a Kenwood KFC-XW1022D which I got brand new off of Amazon for $60.

I was thinking of swapping out my sub but I was gonna throw a 10 or 12 in the trunk and throw maybe an 8inch EV for some nice voice to add to the interior speakers. The only think im kinda iffy on is how much more wiring I would have to do to run the voice instead of bass to the deck.

Did you use the Kenwood w/ the stock head unit & wiring or was this all a custom setup? I'm trying to replace my blown ML sub w/ something cheap using the stock HU & wiring.

No, I have a 1 ohm stable amp. You will need a sub that is the same impedance as the stock sub if you want to use the stock amp. I think it's 8 ohms but you better double check.

I'm building a box for an Image Dynamics IDQ12 right now, should turn out nice with no visible mods and little loss in trunk space, Ill post some pics when it gets finished up.

What he said, and I had a relatively hard time finding reviews and info on them. It's often rec'd that you reseal / recaulk your seams as well as do some heavy dyno-matting. I just went with the sub box in the end.

I'm wondering the same. Looking to replace the stock sub on stock system (Nakamichi). I'm trying to stay away from getting an aftermarket system as much as possible (been there done that too many times). Do you guys think it'll even make a difference if my stock sub isn't blown?

IDK. I think that's left to interpretation. I have a Fosgate, shallow mount 10". I don't know if it's meant for Infinate Baffle but I did look into all that when I first started searching thru the threads. That stuff is hard to know and alot of manufacturers don't list that. Then I just decided to take a risk & change it out, I mean it sounds Great, I won't win any bass competitions but I've had plenty of passengers and people come up to me at gas stations or anywhere I stop and complement my sounds as well as the car. Alarms go off when I pull in parking lots and residential areas. Alot of peeps are surprised that it's only one sub and it's being ran by one 5 channel amp. So Bashigs just go for it and change out your sub, if it does sound bad, then return it and get another one or build a box for it. I guarantee it will sound better than stock.
