Center armrest latch fix
Hello, I'm new to this car and forum. Just bought an emerald green 1999 gs400 with low miles. The first owner did not want to pay for the dealer repair on the continually popping up center arm rest so she sold the car. It was an easy fix, on a scale of 1-10, I rate it a 1.
With the armrest in the raised position, take a good #2 phillips and remove the 9 small screws retaining the underneath bezel surround found under the armrest. Remove the bezel. You will find 3 larger roundhead #2 phillips screws retaining the hinge spring mechanism. Loosen these screws slightly. Then put pressure on the armrest itself toward the hinge. Tighten the three screws and re-attach the bezel surround. Your armrest will never pop-up again.
What a great driving car!
