Default Engine temp problem

Hi guys,

So I have an issue with my lexus gs300 2003. My temp guage does not stay in the middle when my car is warmed up. When i am driving it will dip to about the first quarter closest to cold. Then it will stay there or slowly go back up to the middle. It doesnt pass the middle. The car seems to drive fine. Ac works. My friend that is a mechanic said to run the heater to see if the air would blow hot air and it does. Another friend stated it could be my thermostat. Has anyone else had this issue or expirience with this issue.

Thanks in advance for all help

My car currently has 103000 miles, all maintenance and tune ups are up to date.

Check your thermostat, if it's good your temp. sensor is the next culprit.

I agree with the other two. t-stat, if good, temp sensor. You can drive it like that. I believe its your t-stat opening up too early not allowing the coolant to heat up to operating temperature

Yes, you can drive it like that. Hotter could be a big problem; cooler, not so much.

Sounds like the thermostat, after running the car check to see if the radiator hoses vary from temperature. Easy way to check thermostat
