Default Driver's Side Temp Servo?? DIY help required

I've read all the posts about issues with temp servos and the issues with the temperatures on both drivers & passenger vents being opposite (bad temp servos) or not regulating temperature per the setting(s).

But my problem is slightly different. My A/C and Heat work as they should, on both sides. But the issue I have experienced for the past year is when the A/C - Heat is 'off' I am getting hot air in the driver's foot well.!!! All other vents circulate comfortable air.

When the A/C - Heat is 'on' I have no issues. Heat and A/C blows with no issues collectively on both sides.

So, am I looking at replacing/refurbishing the temp servo for this situation?? I a thinking it is something else. I have not read anyone successfully or not changing the drivers temp servo to cure this problem while the system is 'off'.

Any help guys??

2000 GS300..

Yup! I've read all of Brian's posts on this as well as ALL the others. I've put in the time but couldn't find the resolution to this specific issue.

sounds like your mode servo is bad....or isn't closing correctly all the way. i noticed when my air is off heat seems to come out of my dash vents (this was before i installed my drivers side servo) i haven't checked it out this year to see if its still happening as i haven't had to use the heat yet

Thanks for the info Brian. I know where the temp servos are. Where is the mode servo and is there more than 1?

mode servo is on passenger side....look over my thread i show you where it is and what it looks like.only one mode servo. it really just seems like your door on the HVAC box isnt closing all the way be it a bad more servo or another issue

thats funny because i have the same issue as gman it sucks becuse i always have to drive with my windows down or else it gets too hott and the fresh air mode doesnt even relieve it.Yeah it seems to be coming from the foot, lighter, and radio areas i thought it was just the engine heat but yeah its starting to be annoying.

I decided with the help of my son to get in there and remove the driver's temp servo last night. We dismantled the servo and followed the DIY to clean/redistribute the wheel grease. Popped it back in and well, no more noise, and the unit was functioning per the DIY, for now. The weather was fairly cool today (65-70) so I was unable to really tell with the windows up/air off if it solved my issue. But, it seems to have. I am no longer hearing the gurgling from the servo and the driver's foot well is not heating up like it used to.

Yet, I am thinking one of the other servos that distributes outside air to the cabin with the a/c off is not doing so. Which servo would that be?

I'll keep this post updated with my findings week to week.
