Major problem with abs!!!
My recently bought a 1998 gs400 has no abs. Vsc, Vsc light off,abs light, but no check engine light, no codes to check. Abs pump seems not to be working, I have not heard the 3 to 4 second noise like the other gs's I seen before. Plz give me some insight of narrowing down what could be the abs problem. I also don't know if the 1998 abs unit is the same unit that goes in the 2001 model. Some places say that from 1998 to 2005 are the same part numbers. But the dealer has different part number for different years. thanks for your support.

ha, I thought I was trippin when I heard the noise, so thats supposed to happen? Its always on start up and usually hear it when braking, dont pay attention when driving, too many other sounds. sounds like a compressor turning on then shutting off.. or like an auto level on suspension... dont know how to explain the noise.
sorry, had to comment, wish I had the answer for you on that one... I imagine all parts should be the same, unless they changed some things in those later years.
