Default Thinking about putting a LS1 in my GS400

Want your opinion on putting an LS1 into my vehicle. I considered also putting a cam and bigger headers on it as well to give me around 400whp.

The shop I am thinking about doing the swap said my tranny will support this extra power? But want to get a second opinion before making an expensive mistake.

...or what are some other alternatives?

I don't know much about LSX swaps into our cars but it has been covered a lot that our stock tranny LIMIT is around 400whp. At those power levels or even just under it, it is advisable to have a transmission cooler AND a Valve Body upgrade...both will "help" preserve/prolong your tranny at those power levels.

This will be a headache in the making. There is no telling what operational problems you will encounter. Just add the car that the LS1 was made for to your garage. C5 Corvettes in excellent condition can be had for under $20k. That would be a better alternative imo.

There was a magazine build on a LS1 powered GS I think in Import Tuner or Modified.

Not for me but nice job.
