If the converters are going bad, you should smell rotten eggs. I had that smell for a while, but only when I got on the pedal, which is most of the time. When my cats were completely clogged, my car would not rev past 4k even with my foot all the way down, and I couldnt get past 10mph, I checked with Lexus and yes, 2400 for both catalyc converters! I work right next to a muffler shop and they cleared whatever is inside the cats. Car runs good, but I do get an exhaust smell and a cel of course. I will be getting headers or something soon.

BTW, the mechanic told me that happens when you use cheap gas ( I don't) or when you constanly let your gas run low. This I did all the time. I would wait for the gas level to get to "E" before a fill up. Apparently if you do that, all the debris from the gas clogs your cats.

I would deff go aftermarket, no way I would pay 2400 for catalyc converters! I was reading, and its easier to get headers and run some emulator( I think that's what it's called).. You can also gain some performance
