checked all your fuses? fusable links? relays? short in the wiring system? bad battery terminals?

The light normally means you have a draw on the system instead of a charge. Even though you replaced it is not totally uncommon for the new alternator on to be bunk too.. who did the work> It may be charging, just not at the 13.5-14 volts required.
If you own a multimeter. Start the car and put a load on the battery (put your lights on, radio..ect) then pop the hood. Put the red on the positive lead on your battery, black on the black. You should be in the 13-14 volt range.
