Default VSC Problem

Hey guys,
I have a problem with my VSC randomly kicking in. Never had this problem until i slammed my car on 20's. I thought it could be because my rear tires have camber wear, and the car was losing traction because of this. So i raised the car and put on my stockers, but VSC is still kicking in randomly. It happens mostly when i hit a small bump or when i turn.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Weird. I had the same problem, but mine would kick in when making a turn going fast, not speed bumps. I got new tires and it hasn't happened again in 2 years

Have you tried resetting the ECU? Unhook one of the battery terminals for five mins then hook it back up. And your ECU should recalibrate.

Yea, actually i was gonna do that next, but i wanted to try to figure out what was triggering it in the first place.

Have the ABS/VSC system read for any current or previous diagnostic trouble codes. It should give you an idea about what is going on.

So i reset the ECU, and its still doing it. Does the obd II scanner pick up VSC/ABS codes?

Any other ideas?

I forgot to mention that when VSC kicks in, the brakes make this tapping noise.. ugh

hows your brake fluid/brake pads? On my other car I had a similar problem, when I lowered my pulley on the supercharger and did some other mods (gaining a bit more hp/tq) when I stepped on it, the car would launch and the vsc/abs light would go on too. found out that I was low on fluid [brakes worn low]. When I stepped on it, the car would lift and the fluid would move off the sensor and shoot me the light to check my sheeits... I would think car may be out of level in your case.... just a rare thing to throw out there...

hmm, my pads are fine, i just had the rear ones changed. Fronts are still good, i'll check the fluid though, maybe that might be the problem.

Basic/Generic/Global OBDII scanners will not. Better scan tools with enhanced or factory software will comm with multiple systems like Airbag, ABS-VSC, HVAC, etc.

Get the ABS/VSC system read for any current or previous diagnostic trouble codes.

Not sure if its the same issue, But have the Sensors Checked Out or Cleaned.

I've Been Having the same problems On and Off also for the past 2 mths. and Now it Cuts My Throttle Completely along with the engine light coming on.

I've cleaned the Filter / Air system before (inc. MAF Sensor, APS Senor, and the Throttle itself), it was gone for about 3 weeks, and now it's coming Back for good.

Been Reading alot (too much) and found its the Toyota's Drive-by-Wire enclosed System. (All of Toyota Yaris, 4Runners, FJCruiser, IS series owners, etc etc, have been having similar problems.) Either its Skidding Wheels / or Parts Problems.

I finally got it Checked out with a diagnostics and Pin Down a P1120 Code.

But Because of the Drive-by-Wire, it could mean any Sensors that's Not working properly and cause the system to Fail and the VSC light being on and Cutting off throttle.

So Guess tells me if in normal condition without drifting or skidding the wheels, this could mean on of the sensors / Sensor Connectors needs your attention.
