5w30 or 10w30?

If it runs good and makes no odd noises, stay with 5w30. No need to go thicker unless its getting clacky noises or has lower than normal oil pressure or something.

Reason why I went with thicker oil is because I was worrying about the frequent cold starting and engine wear. Seems like the change Ive made to the car is back firing on me now with gas mileage. Honestly thought that sort of small changes would make such a difference in mpg. Car still runs fine though.

My car does about 15mpg in city now. It gets as same mpg as driving my Yukon in city. GS300 gets bad gas mileage in city driving! Plus it requires 93!

I think you will be fine either way but I personally noticed the difference in fuel economy when I switched to 10w30. My work is about 5 mins away from the house and I do cold start the car a lot, pretty much all city driving through the work days in a week unless I go out of town sometimes. Its just an enough distance for my car to warm up from leaving the house to work every time and vise versa. My MPG dropped by 2-3mpg after switching from 5w30 synthetic to 10w30 synthetic.....

I started using that now. Before... Last 10 years 80k miles i used Mobile 1 full synthetic every 6 months probably 3-4k miles max. I don't know if it's related, but now I'm burning 1qt per 2k miles. Going try Pennzoil Platinum to see if it burns less, but i might not be driving the car much longer, trying to switch to an LS which I think I'll use the amsoil and change it once a year.
And I was wondering if the climate impacts it and using a slightly heavier oil, but we're only talking 10-20*F at most in Texas. I can see how the synthetic plays major role in reducing wear on the engine when warming an oil up from zero degrees or worse in the North.
