Default Upgraded my grill from 98 to 02. Thanks AZDesertGS!

AZDesertGS (Alex) gave me his old 02 grill to put on my silver GS. The colors match up better and go well with the work wheels that I picked up from another CL member (Thanks FutureGS400).

Key differences between the 2 grills:

1) The 02 grill slants are three times thicker and the 98 grill slants are simple straight up and down lines.

2) The 02 grill has a greyish tint to them and the 98 grill is plain black.

3) The 02 grill has a larger "L" logo - I'd say it looks to be 10%-12% larger. Of course it's not as big as the 06 GS logo but hey, that thing is HUUUUUUGE!

I'm kinda liking this updated grill!

Thanks Alex!!!

The 98 is the one on the top and the "L" logo is actually a little smaller.

Here is another photo to compare... It's hard to tell but on the 02 grill, the "L" logo is slightly bigger so that the interior circumfrence is the same as the exterior circumfrence of the 98 grill.

Whatcha think??

? ?

I like them both and to me.....there isn't that much of a difference to say one is better than the other. Having said that....I would put the 02 grill on in a second if I had the chance. The reason being it's not what came on our cars so it would be "different".

Hey Cliffud, interested in selling your old grill? I murdered mine when I took a dremmel to it trying to chrome out the whole thing. Let me know.....

Default talk about a buzz kill... :(

Haha - so I go to my gf's restaurant to say hi and to show her the new grill.

She immediately notices the slats are thicker and then the next thing out of her mouth just about killed me.

She said it kinda looks like the old classic car grill. I'm thinking... uhhhhh- the 1940s buick maybe??

So I go online and check out what's out there for classic car grills and I find this:

Hahaha... oh boy.

I think it looks good, what caught my eye first was the single horizontal line on the new grill vs. the 2 on your original.

Most people might not notice the difference, especially someone that doesn't know much about cars or the GS but at least you know and that's what really counts. I lowered my car and nobody has really noticed but I do and that's what counts to me. Now you have to chrome that grille, it's going to make it really stand out.
