Default Warranty Run Around W/two Tx Dealers

I'm about to purchase a 2004 RX 330 from a gentleman in the Dallas area. The miles are nearing the 50k so I went to two Lexus's dealerships to discuss a warranty purchase this afternoon. I need some advice on how to handle what transpired.

First location: Park Place Lexus Plano, TX

Spoke to Bridget and I was offered "The Platnium Plan" at $2500 up 7 years and 100k with Zero deductible. At the end Bridget offered a 10% discount and of course final statement was that's all that Park Place could offer as far as a discount.

Second location: Sewell Lexus Dallas, TX

Spoke to Cecily MClarin (Business Manager). Offered the same "Platnium Plan" at $2500 up 7 years and 100k with Zero deductible. I told Cecily that Park Place Lexus offered me a 20% discount. Of course she gave me an academy award performance that Sewell will match the 20% discount but could not lower the price at all since Sewell is just breaking even on the deal.

Kicker on this saga:

The owner of the RX330 called Cecily at Sewell Lexus earlier in the afternoon before my actual visit to either Lexus locations and with me present to hear the conversation to discuss the same Platnium Plan with Zero deductible and he was quoted $1695.00.

Pls tell me how to approach Sewell in regards to Cecily's deception and how a loyal Lexus customer (RX330 will be my 5th Lexus in 8 years) to get what a smart/loyal Lexus consumer should receive and what should I acutally pay for this Platnium Plan.

Any DFW Lexus Dealerships who read this pls call me to discuss your rates...I'm ready to purchase but not to get ripped off.

Thanks,
Ernie

that's terrible. i hope everything works out for you in the end. warranties themselves are generally run arounds.

why not find one with less miles so you still have factory bumper to bumper? get something with 35-40k miles and you'll have plenty of time to find any bugs. the extra money you would've spent on the warranty will offset the higher price for less miles.

The RX330 is selling for $30k, w/Mark Levinson, DVD, Navigation, Running Boards, Chrome Rims, Clear Coat Guard for pebbles/rocks etc and a good record history at Sewell Lexus.

I would just go back to Sewell and tell her that she quoted the current owner $1695.00 and ask her for the same deal. If she says that the offer is only available to the original owner of the car, then I'd ask her if the warranty would be transferable if he was the sell it. THEN.....ask the current owner to buy it then pay him the extra $1700, only if it's transferable.

Hope this helps a bit.

When I purchased my RX, I placed the cost of the extended warranty in a bank account ....$2250.

I have needed to purchase a MAF sensor, an extended warranty part, for $197.

The warranty has been good to me !

My guess on why you were quoted more was because you went in person to both locations.

at this point, ( because I was in the business, or kinda still am) I'am going to assume that their actual cost on the warranty is probably 1300 bucks.

they simply sell it for 400 bucks over cost when someone calls on the phone. is that not what the owner did, is call?

It's like anything else, you call, and chances are you are calling around.......better give you a good deal to get you in the store and when you come in, we have a chance to upsell you on other F&I products.

Please understand that at this point you can purchase it for 1695......
