The home filters shown so far don't have nearly the pleats per inch or the activated carbon, but there are filters available with activated carbon.

This 20x30x1" is $15.97 each at Lowes, and has carbon in the filter, hence the black color.

Amazon Amazon

The other issue is pleats per inch, which I would propose another fix for. This home filter measures 20x30x1, so I would propose you only get three cabin filters out of this home filter. Take the entire 20" width, and compress it down to the cabin filter width of about 8.5", which will more than double the pleats per inch, getting much closer to the stock cabin filter. At 9.25" long for the stock cabin filter, that leaves you 2.25" to spare in the 30" direction on this home filter to make three cabin filters.

I'll probably try this the next time I have to replace the cabin filter, even though the one from Amazon was $15.13, I could basically make three for that price.

I'm looking into replacing mine and called the Lexus dealership. There are 2 different oem filters available. One is $41 and the other is $49 (Canadian $). The $49 one has charcoal in it. The $41 does not. I will be making one myself for the first time! I'm sure it will turn out well!

Default Part number/name?

My 01 430 did not have a sled or filter in it when I bought it.

I also noticed that there are two different 3rd party part numbers for 00 and 01.

Did they stop using a sled after 00?

Excellent thread! I find the GS easier to replace than on most cars, because there is the little plate you just slide out in the middle of the glove compartment. On other cars, you have to deform the sides inside of the glove box so the whole thing can drop down, out of the cavity, or detach the side posts inside the glove box so it can drop down.

And in response to the post above, if the sled is being referred to as the tray for the cabin air filter, than yes, it is supposed to have one.

Thanks. I was surprised I could/cannot find one of these on Ebay.

VERY IMPORTANT!!!! DO NOT FORCE THIS SECOND PANEL UP!!! If you do, your "Recirculation" button will no longer work as you will have broken the actuator arm off this panel. You need to push the "Fresh Air" button so this panel raises.

Thanks for the thread but I can' seem to get this glove box panel off. Some say the filter is behind the glove box some say it's in an area behind the gas pedal while others have posted that anything under 97 don't have one. That's confusing since I bought a cabin air filter for my 94. Im looking for assistance with this. Thanks in advance.

I see that this is an old thread but I can't seem to get behind my glove box at all. I do not see any thing that holds the black felt into the box. Some have said that it's on the driverside to the right of the gas pedal. I don't see it there only see the heater core. I've even read that they didn't have them before 97 which is strange considering that I bought one. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
